STEAM BOILER from ESKADER

Eskader’s silver-soldered steam boiler NJORD, made entirely of copper with double fire tubes.

The NJORD steam boiler is fully equipped with fittings from Eskader in Stockholm.

2 plugged flanges 1/4x32, one on each side of the boiler, for installation of a check valve for water refill during operation.

1 plugged flange 1/4x32 under the fire tubes at the front of the boiler, for draining the boiler.

The chimney is equipped with a blast nozzle (not connected). It can be used for the engine’s exhaust steam or as a separate steam blast if one wishes to have steam exhaust through the chimney.

Included with Eskader’s special steam boiler NJORD:

2 twin-mounted gas burners, Sievert 3938 P, with a common gas control valve, mounted with silver-soldered copper tubing and a common connection to a standard fitting for disposable gas canisters such as PRIMUS BUTANE/PROPANE MIX 70/30, a recommended gas mixture.

The gas burners should be lit separately before being inserted into their respective fire tubes in the boiler.

The water level should neither exceed nor fall below the highest/lowest level of the water gauge.

In testing, the boiler produces 1 liter of boiled-off water per hour at 3 bar pressure.

The boiler’s casing/insulation is made of milled walnut and brass.

The front of the boiler, with the two inlets/fire tubes for the gas burners and the water gauge, is topped with a brass smoke box with the chimney on top.

The rear of the boiler contains a built-in, hidden superheater with seven through-running tubes for flue gases, which are led back to the smoke box at the boiler’s front.

On the back of the boiler (the hidden smoke box), the steam from the throttle valve is led through the hidden smoke box for additional drying — a superheater — before exiting through the threaded steam outlet, 1/4x32, at the upper left of the boiler’s rear side.

NJORD is very well suited for, for example, the two-cylinder steam engine STUART D10 with double piston rings.
